Report on Human Rights in Viet Nam 2011 Is Available
The Vietnam Human Rights Network has released its Annual Report for 2011 both in English and Vietnamese which is available at the following links:
The purpose of the report is to serve as a partial listing of widespread human rights violations by Vietnamese Government against Vietnamese people in 2011 based on the standards set forth by the Universal Declaration of Human rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The report focuses on most important areas of human rights and civil liberties violations: Freedom of opinion and speech, political rights, religious freedom, human trafficking… Following the fact finding, Vietnam Human Rights Network calls on the Vietnamese Government to immediately respond to the legitimate rights and freedoms of its citizens by ensuring compliance with the international human rights law of which it is a member of signatory. Free governments of the world are urged to send a clear signal to the Vietnam authorities that they no longer enjoy total impunity if they continue their repressive politics. The Vietnam Human Rights Network also calls on international human rights organizations to continue to monitor and raise their voice against the human rights violations in Vietnam. The report includes an updated list of prisoners of conscience.
