Nearly 150 Vietnamese migrants held in Russia
Indo Asian News Service 08/30/2012 Moscow, Aug 30 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Police in Russia have discovered at least 142 undocumented migrant workers from Vietnam who were making clothes in the Moscow region, the interior ministry said. None of them had work permits, and none were in Russia legally, the ministry said. "As it turned out, the workers were living at the clothing factory where they worked. They never left the premises. Unidentified people delivered food for them," it said Wednesday. This is the second major detention of Vietnamese illegal migrants in as many weeks. In mid-August, police discovered around 1,200 Vietnamese in Moscow region sewing knockoffs under the Louis Vuitton, Emporio Armani, Lacoste, and Chanel brands.
